Our Mission
More Than A Temple
Thian Ling Chong Toh Tong is a historical landmark of resilience. Founded to heal the community during the opium crisis of the early 1900s, we continue today as a beacon of the Zhenkongjiao (Religion of the True Void). We are dedicated to preserving our unique syncretic traditions while providing a dignified space for ancestral remembrance.
Our Origins
The "Opium Curative Centre"
Founded in Singapore in the early 1900s, our temple's primary mission began not just as a place of prayer, but as a place of salvation. We operated to combat opium addiction, which was a widespread tragedy among the poor and elderly coolie population of that era.
Known in the English press as the "Faith Healing and Opium Curative Centre," devotees would stay within our walls for a year, participating in daily rituals and sleeping on sand beds to remove harmful "qi" and detoxify their bodies.

Our Philosophy
The Way of the "True Void"
We follow the Zhenkongjiao faith, a syncretic religion integrating Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism. Our practice emphasizes internal cultivation over external display.
The Five Thrones
Unlike traditional temples filled with deity statues, our hall features five thrones representing our patriarchs, fostering a focus on the invisible spirit rather than idols.
Mirror & Heart Lamp
The altar typically holds only a mirror, symbolizing the reflection of one's true nature, and a "Heart Lamp" representing eternal spiritual light.
Spiritual Cultivation
We continue the practice of Jing Zuo Gui Bai (meditation) and Shuaishou (arm-swinging) to help people maintain physical health and mental clarity.

Our Journey
Founded in Jiangxi, China by Master Liao Dipin, who established the teachings of the True Void (Zhenkongjiao) to alleviate suffering.
The faith reached Singapore and Malaya, establishing itself as a vital Opium Curative Centre for the immigrant coolie population.
Thian Ling Chong Toh Tong was officially registered and established its first permanent hall in the Kembangan area.
Following the SARS outbreak, the temple adapted its practices, ceasing the 'Fang Hua' ritual to align with modern health standards.
Located at 472 Changi Road, we serve as the central hub for the Zhenkongjiao community, focusing on meditation and ancestral honor.
Experience the Peace of the True Void
Whether seeking a place for ancestral remembrance or a sanctuary for personal cultivation, our doors are open to all who seek tranquility.
